Matyáš Chochola (1986) is czech ultra-contemporary sculptor and performer. His work has been widely exhibited, recently with his last show Alchemist at Gossamer Fog in London. Before that he has presented new work together with Christian Jankowski in Cabinet Studiolo in Milan (IT). In 2016 he has introduced at Manifesta 11 in Zürich (CH) with work Ultra Violet Ritual in collaboration with Azem Maksutaj, multiple Thai boxing world champion. Same year with his immersive installation Magic Exotic Erotic he won 2016th Jindřich Chalupecký Award.

Chochola's multi-layered art is rooted in performance which blurs the lines between shamanic and ritual ceremony and produces artistic artifacts. These items are then utilized in unorthodox site-specific installations which often combine wild, powerful and animalistic qualities with the trash aesthetics of 1990s discos or spiritual ceremonies.
